What Is Propolis?

Propolis is a natural, resin like substance produced honey bees. Bees collect resins from tree buds, bark, and other plant materials, then combine them with beeswax and their own natural enzymes. Because of its sticky consistency, propolis is sometimes called “bee glue.”

Inside the hive, bees use propolis to seal small cracks, smooth rough surfaces, reinforce the structure, and protect the colony from outside contaminants.
